bsd-subsystem in Leopard (or Snow Leopard)?

Posted by Wilhelm Aste at June 07. 2009
Hi,

sorry if I ask something trivial, but I am new to portable apps. I use a MacBook Intel Core 2 Duo
with Mac OS X 10.5.7. Opening portable firefox from usb-stick (or usb harddisk) demands an optional install of the bsd-subsystem - and wants to quit without that install. But the Mac OS X 10.5 DVD does not include that subsystem (anymore perhaps - was it present in 10.4.?).

Is there any workaround, or is that subsystem hidden somewhere else ?

Please, don’t I have the right to use portable apps?

OK, the bsd-subsystem is part of 10.4.6, but installing it from 10.4 to 10.5 is not admissible. So what can I do? What are you doing?

Is that only my obstacle, or is simply no one there?
***sigh***
