Portable Firefox gets really buggy after a week or so.
Up to OS X Portable Apps
Hello. I'm having an issue with Portable Firefox. Upon install, everything runs perfectly, but after a week or so, things seem to get "corrupted." My home page no longer loads upon start-up, the smarbar stops working, and when I try to create a keyword shortcut to a textbox, the application freezes.
Uninstalling and re-installing fixes the problem. but it's definitely an annoyance. Anyone else had this problem?
Thanks,
dep

Re: Portable Firefox gets really buggy after a week or so.
Same problem using an ironkey drive. I thought I had solved it by disabling automatic updates, but one week later, same problem.
All I can suggest is reformatting the drive and being very careful to unmount before unplugging.
I would really like a stable version of this, it makes me feel secure. My gut feeling is the drive itself is defective.

I've seen the same problem across multiple thumb drives from different manufacturers, so I don't think it's a problem with the drive itself. I've tried replacing the profile with a backup to see if it's just the profile getting corrupted, but that doesn't work. The only thing that does work is remove the old copy and reinstall from scratch, which is not an acceptable solution. Note: so far, this has only been on a PowerBook G4, as my MacBookPro doesn't get used with the portable apps. I'll do some more checking with Portable Firefox on an Intel machine and see if the problem crosses over to a different processor.
