How do I keep Portable Apps current?

Posted by Hal Espen at August 24. 2007
I love the portability and security of the two apps I'm using (Firefox and Address Book), but how do I make sure that updated info (bookmarks, addresses, etc.) gets imported from my main Mac computer to the portable apps I'm storing on a USB keychain?

First time you open a Portable App you are asked If you like to copy
your data/preferences from your main Mac to your USB thumbdrive.

To keep your Portable apps updated (supposing that your mac is the most update) you have to redo this deleting the file CopyPref_Done
that you find inside application bunde (Es:
PortableFirefox.app/Contents/Resources/CopyPref_Done). Use Ctrl+clic on
Portable app icon and select "Show package Content" on pop down menu;
browse to/Contents/Resources/CopyPref_Done.

Fist time you re-open your Portable app you will be asked again to re-copy your preferences/data.

With Portable AddressBook you can use instead SyncPAppX:
